CHINESE NEW YEAR IN PIAZZA PLEBISCITO, OPENS THE YEAR OF THE GOAT


With dancing, singing, martial arts and painting, play the Chinese community in Naples has celebrated the New Year by welcoming the year of the Goat.
The event, organized by the Confucius Institute of the University L’Orientale and with the support of the Culture and Tourism of the Municipality, paid homage to the beginning of ‘”Year of the Goat” with the dance of the dragon, realized by ASD Teng Long of San Giorgio a Cremano. For the uninitiated, the Chinese tradition goes, each lunar year, an animal sign according to a precise rotation between 12 elements; unlike the Western Zodiac Calendar where the signs are fixed.

The Spring Festival – Chun Jie – known abroad as Chinese New Year, is the most important festival in China and marks the beginning of the new year according to the Chinese lunar calendar. The dance of the dragon, animal symbol of strength and dignity, will kick off the festivities. The dragon silk, animated by young athletes Neapolitan lovers of ancient gymnastics taijiquan, accompanied by the sound of the gong, cross the square where were set also workshops in calligraphy and traditional painting, manufacturing of kites, card cropped, art and technical nodes.
