” TRAVEL IN ITALY ” AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO THE GREAT ARTIST IN CHINESE WANG Guangyi RAVELLO FESTIVAL

From 21 June to 20 September, the Ravello Festival will host the exhibition – curated by Demetrio Paparoni and produced by Tramontano Art, Naples – one of the most eclectic artists and appreciated the Chinese art scene : the famous painter , sculptor , performer and creator of installations WANG Guangyi . Famous throughout the world for his Great Criticism cycle , the Chinese artist exhibiting at the Ravello Festival over 50 works related to Italy for inspiration or because they were born for exhibitions in our country. The selection of works makes the show , titled ” TRAVEL IN ITALY ” , a show not to be missed .

In addition to presenting for the first time in Italy works projects exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2013, installation Scenes ( Venice Biennale, 2009) dedicated to Marco Polo, the quadrittico Sacred Descending ( Venice Biennale, 2013) , in fact will be exhibited in Ravello ( in the halls of Villa Rufolo ) , for the first time , the new works that WANG Guangyi dedicated to the Holy Shroud and the Apostles , which confirm the interest of the Chinese to the Christian iconography and the history of Western art. Completing the exhibition are a collection of twenty works on paper that reflect the most salient phases of its business, have never been exhibited outside of China , and the original work that the artist wanted to spend at the Ravello Festival , declining his unique style , which is used for Great Criticism in musical key .

The undisputed protagonist of the new cultural climate that began in China in the late ’80s , Wang Guangyi was chosen as the favorite subject of his work ‘s relationship with transcendence. Fascinated by the political and religious culture of our country, has always been seen in the Italian art of the past as a source of inspiration.

In addition to the rich program dedicated to the music , so the Ravello Festival ( held from June 21 to September 20 in Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast ) confirms the wide range of dedicated each year to the visual arts : as previously announced, in fact, even Tony Cragg will of Villa Rufolo and the terrace Niemeyer an open-air museum , and also his exhibition , from June 21 to October 31 by Flavio Arens , is shaping up as one of the great events of the Italian season .
